The Nation's Weather for Friday, January 17, 2020

An expansive winter storm will begin to spread snow and ice

across a wide swath of the Plains and Midwest tomorrow.

Before the storm exits, portions of the Midwest could

receive over a foot of fresh snow. Meanwhile, the southern

end of the storm system will spread showers and

thunderstorms across portions of the southern Plains and

lower Mississippi River Valley. Dry and settled conditions

are expected across much of the East Coast as high pressure

remains in control. A similar scenario will play out across

the Southwest as well. The Pacific Northwest will have yet

another storm system track into the coast, bringing showers

to most of the major cities near the coast and heavy snow to

the Cascades.
