In more ways than one, the third annual Bank Street Theater Twilight Run 5K road race proved a memorable occasion May 30 for young folks in New Milford.

The popular event has has picked right up where the former Moonlight Run 5K left off several years ago.

Best of all last Friday, what seemed an endless stream of juvenile runners, some as young as age 6 and 7, experienced the challenge and rewards of a road race.

In all, 513 runners of all ages completed the 3.1-mile course starting at Young's Field, heading along the Housatonic River on Housatonic Avenue out to MedInstill, and back to Young's Field.

The race's champions were young as well.

Twenty-two year old Sam Alexander of New Britain kicked home in 15:27.5 to ease to a comfortable victory.

Annmarie Tuxbury, 20, of New Hartford similarly was unchallenged in women's competition, clocking 18:21 en route to an overall 12th-place effort.

The event was preceded by a Kids' Fun Run.

Some proceeds of the race will help support the New Milford High School boys' and girls' cross country teams.
