The New Milford Express U15 youth baseball team, and its families and friends will stage a community event called "Hey, Mom, Wanna Have A Catch?" this weekend on the Village Green.

The Express players and many others will engage in a planned 48-hour marathon game of catch on a roped off area on the south end of the Green.

The Mother's Day weekend event will start Friday, May 10 from 6 p.m. and continue to Sunday at 6 p.m., including overnight sessions enhanced by lighting to be set up for the occasion.

Donations would be accepted in advance and a bucket will be set up on the Green to accept donations during the "game."

Proceeds will benefit the Express, with a portion to be donated to the Western Connecticut Health Netword for its fight against breast cancer.

Participants will attempt to set a world record for the longest game of catch.

Participants will use the Major League Baseball pink-stitched, pink-printed ball to be used in every major league stadium on Mother's Day.

Express participants, including players, parents and siblings, will wear pink T-shirts sporting "Hey, Mom, Wanna Have A Catch?"

The back of the shirts will include sponsors.
