Coach: Al Ciarlo, 13th season, 169-116 cumulative record.

2011 record: 5-13 in the Berkshire League and 9-18 overall.

Losses to graduation: Ross Mackay.

Captains for 2012: Mia Landegren and Spencer Ylagan.

Coach's outlook for 2012: "Last year, we finished the season very thin with six golfers. No. 2 man Ross Mackay has graduated and our number five, Zach Krin, has transferred. This year is a different story ... 17 players tried out. We have an influx of talent which will make for a very exciting season. We return the No. 1 player in the Berkshire League in junior Mia Landegren. She made All-State last year and finished third at the boys' state Division IV tournament. Junior Spencer Ylagan played at No. 3 last year and senior Matt Carlson saw limited varsity action.

Newcomers to Shepaug, along with former track and baseball players, have made tryouts the most competitive in years. Having the number one player in the league is a huge asset, but we are also adding a strong number two player and a ton of depth. The additions are Daniel Foote, Michael Anson, Erik Meglio, Joshua Thermer, Griffin Ylagan and Robert McCarthy. We are hoping to finish no worse than second in the league and qualify for states. Lewis Mills will be the team to beat. It has three top players, although they did lose some depth to graduation. Northwest is always tough because of is numbers, Thomaston/Wamogo and Nonnewaug will be solid and Litchfield has a strong number one in Jason Leigh.
