Coach: David Bilmes, fourth season.

Assistant: Stephen Riley.

2012 record: 16-2, second in the Berkshire League, tied for seventh in state class `S.

Key graduation losses: Number one singles player Ed Kelly, number three singles player Andrew Stern and number two doubles player Aydan Crumrine.

Captains: Jack Brotherton, Ellery Rourk.

Coach's outlook: "This is the final season for an outstanding group of seniors who have led us to a 28-7 record over the past two seasons. It's been a pleasure to watch them develop and grow both as tennis players and young men over the past three years, and I'm confident they will rise to the challenge of keeping Shepaug in the upper echelon of the Berkshire League this year.

"Co-captains Ellery Rourk and Jack Brotherton teamed up last season at number one doubles, where they were 23-1, winning the Berkshire title and advancing to the quarterfinals of the state tournament. This year, they will have to adjust to being our top two singles players. Kirby Peters will fill out our singles lineup. Kellen Rikhoff, one of the top singles players in the league last year, will play number one doubles this year, the same position for which he earned all-Berkshire honors as a sophomore. He will team with Michael Korniewicz, who earned all-Berkshire honors last year as part of our number two doubles team, which was undefeated during the regular season, losing only to their teammates in the Berkshire final.

"We have a group of five players competing for the number two doubles slot. The key to our season will be how well our players adjust to their new roles in the lineup. Lewis Mills, which handed us our only two losses last year, has its top three players back and is the overwhelming favorite to defend its title. Our goal is to be among the teams in the pack behind Mills, which should also include Northwestern, Wamogo, Housatonic and Nonnewaug."
