Sherman Park & Recreation notes
The Sherman Park & Recreation Department offers programs throughout the year.
Winter office hours at Sherman School are Saturdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Phone messages at 860-354-3629 will be returned on Thursdays.

Skiing at Thunder Ridge
Signup is open for numerous skiing or snowboarding classes and rentals at Thunder Ridge in Patterson, N.Y. Cost for six hour and a half lessons is $120.
Cost for lift ticket and lessons is $210. Cost for lift, lessons and rentals is $360. Students must have a six-week lift ticket or season pass.
A trail over the mountain extending from the town park to Colonial Park is open to residents.
Registration for the 2015 boating season is still available. Cost is $950. Applications are available Saturday mornings at the rec office.
The Saturday morning basketball program for first to sixth graders directed by Bob Ostrosky and parent volunteers will begin Saturday, Jan. 10 at Sherman School. Cost is $35 for eight weeks.
Children in grades K-3 will play from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.; those in grade 4-5 will play from 10:45 to noon. Signup will be available on opening day.
Open volleyball for Sherman residents is played Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sherman School gym.
Open basketball for Sherman residents is Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sherman School gym.
Yoga supervised by Helen Ostrosky is offered Saturdays from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Sherman School library. Drop-in cost is $10 per class. Each participant is advised to wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.
