Run for a Cure benefits fight against cancer
The 14th annual, three-mile Run For A Cure road race will be held Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, to raise money for cancer research.
Last year's event raised more than $2,000 for the New Milford Hospital Regional Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, as well as another $400 for the Roxbury road race series' stop-watch campaign.
Over the last 13 years, the race has generated nearly $20,000 for area charities.
This year's $10 entry fee will be payable on race day from 7:30 to 9:20 a.m.
A seven-tenths of a mile children's run will start at 9 a.m. in front of Roxbury Congregational Church.
Walkers and strollers will take off on the 3.0-mile course at 9:15 a.m.
Runners will start off at 9:30 on a loop which includes a steep climb on Chalybes Road.
The event is sponsored by Roxbury Congregational Church, the Roxbury Recreation Commission and the road race series.
The top overall male and female finishers will each receive a plaque.
Refreshments will be available.
