DARIEN — Peter Ballo has been a perennial contender in the Connecticut Open as well as other tournaments held in the Metropolitan Section. His time to win was going to come at some point.
That time has come this year for Ballo. First, he qualified for his first PGA Championship in May. Before heading out to Kiawah Island, South Carolina, for that major championship, the 30-year-old Ballo won the Westchester PGA Championship, beating Frank Bensel in the match play final at Country Club of New Canaan.
