A tenacious defense and timely scoring has provided the New Milford High boys' lacrosse side with plenty of impetus in its quest for post-season opportunities.

Coach Brendan Talbot's skilled stick crew has aspirations for the South-West Conference and state tournaments this spring and its current 7-3 ledger is a healthy foundation.

The Green Wave dropped a 9-1 verdict to Joel Barlow Monday at NMHS but that marked the local side's first SWC defeat since an 11-8 setback at Brookfield.

That latter defeat was the only match this spring in which a rival has scored in double figures against coach Talbot & Co.

Overall, heading into a non-league match set Thursday, May 2, vs. St. Joseph, the Green Wave had outscored its opponents by a cumulative 98-65 count.

NMHS will next test itself Saturday, May 4, at 3 p.m. on the local pitch vs. Conard of West Hartford.
