Steve Kolitz has umpired countless fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball games.
Umpires generally don't get much recognition for their efforts, but the affable New Milford resident was an exception Sept. 29.
Kolitz was among those honored with Hall of Fame induction that evening by the Connecticut Amateur Softball Association.
The event was the CASA's annual Hall of Fame awards dinner at the Costa Azzurra Restaurant in Milford.
Kolitz has been an American Softball Association umpire for more than 20 years.
He has officiated at the state, regional and national levels and also has done high school tournament and college games.
His face is familiar in the Greater New Milford area for umpiring both New Milford and Shepaug Valley high school fast-pitch games, as well as for his efforts for New Milford Parks & Recreation's men's and women's slow-pitch leagues.
Kolitz is currently serving as president of the Northwest Connecticut Umpires Association.
