Kent Park and Recreation notes
The Kent Park and Recreation Department is offering a variety of programs.
Office hours on the second floor at town hall are Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Program registration forms are available outside the office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sessions starting Monday, Aug. 26 for Center School students in grades K-6 will meet school days from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Pre-registered participants for after school may attend on a full or part-time basis at the cost of $11 per day including snack. Limited scholarships are available in cooperation with the Kent Community Fund. The program featured homework time, indoor and outdoor activities, games, arts and crafts. Tang Soo Do
Classes meet Mondays from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. for children aged 3-6 and from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. for those aged 7 to adult at the Community House along Swifts Lane. Cost is $70 for 10 weeks and $50 for each additional family member. The program is sponsored by USA Martial Arts of Woodbury, a member of the Cheezic Tang Soo Do Karate Federation.
Goodspeed theater trip
A bus trip to Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam to see "The Most Happy Fella" wil be sponsored Oct. 16 by Kent and Sharon recreation. Transportation via the Northwest Connecticut Transit District bus wil depart Kent Town Hall at 9:45 a.m. Cost for transportation, lunch at the Gelson House and the show will be $85. A Friday luncheon program for residents aged 60 and older will resume at the Senior Center along Swift Lane, with meals provided by The Kent. The center opens at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $2. For reservations, call 860-927-4627. The program is sponsored by The Kent and Marvelwood, Kent and South Kent schools in conjunction with the town.
Kent seniors are welcome to dine at New Milford Hospital monthly. The next outings will take place Sept. 11 and Oct. 9. Bus transportation will be provided with departure at 4:30 p.m. from town hall. Cost is $5 per person. Pick-up service is also available. Reservations are required. For more information or to reserve a seat, call 860-927-1003.
