It's time to play ball!

Wet, cold weather slows, but can't stop New Milford men's and women's softball

Five hundred or thereabouts area slowpitch softball players finally are able to release pent-up energy on the local diamonds.

After a long winter and three straight nights of postponements, the New Milford Parks & Recreation men's and women's slowpitch softball leagues got started Thursday, April 23.

Heavy rains and resultant wet fields forced postponement of opening-night games from April 20 to April 23.

Once the opening pitch had been thrown, however, it was all about playing ball.

Forty men's and women's teams are now underway in the 2015 season, the 53rd campaign for the Parks & Recreation program.
