Green Wave suffers last-second grid loss

The New Milford High football team absorbed a heartbreaking defeat Friday Ocft. 25 at NMHS.

Bunnell's Nolan Aurelia threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Devante Teel as time expired to give the visitors a 40-35 South-West Conference win.

Coach John Muyurphy's Green Wave slipped to 2-5.

Teel scored on the game's first play on an 85-yard kickoff return, but the Green Wave rallied to claim a 21-20 lead by first quarter's end.

New Milford held a 35-32 lead into the fourth period, but Bunnell scored as time expired to pull out the decision.

A.J. McDonald scored three touchdowns for the Green Wave, on runs of 32, five and eight yards.

Ryan Grenier also scored a rushing touchdown and quarterback Tyler Hansen connected from 27 yards with Scott Eherts for the Green Wave's last TD.

Murphy and his squad will travel Saturday, Nov. 2 to Fairfield to play Notre Dame at 2:30 p.m.
