Green Wave girls' track
Coach: Joe Tarantello, 3rd season.
Assistant: Dawn Hough.
2012 accomplishments: Second in the South-West Conference championship meet, the highest in recent years. The 4 x 800-meter relay, 4 x 400-meter relay and Ally LaPorte in the javelin qualified for the state open, New Englands and nationals. The Green Wave scored the most points at the state Class LL meet and the state open in recent years. Both relays finished in the top 20 at nationals and Ally LaPorte finished ninth overall in the country.
Coach's outlook: "We've done a tremendous job turning the program around from not being a competitive team at the league level to trying to win and making our presence known at the state, regional and national level. Our strengths this year will be in our relays, as well as our mid-distance events. As always, we are looking to win the South-West Conference title and get as many individuals into the championship season as possible."
