'Spelling Bee' debuts soon at Shepaug Curtain to rise next Thursday

Curtain to rise next Thursday

The school district's hopefully brief bout with the flu has postponed the debut of Shepaug Dramatics' presentation of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."

Six days later than had been planned, the Tony Award-winning Broadway hit will be staged by a student troupe from Shepaug Valley High School starting next Thursday, Nov. 19.

Directed by Doug Winkel, shows will be offered next Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19-21 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 22 at 3 p.m.

The plot depicts the comical tribulations of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime.

The student contestants will be portrayed by Eddy Anderson, Grace Kellogg, Aaron Dwyer, Dalton Silvernail, Callie Huber and Jaime Davenport.

Emma Cava and Everett O'Reilly Narciso will play supervising adults and John Shusdock will also make an appearance.

Limited seating will be available at $10 for adults and $8 for students and senior citizens. For reservations, call the school at 860-868-7326.
