It's safe to say the New Milford High School color guard distinguished itself this winter.

Directed by Seemi Soni, the 21-student unit won seven of its eight competitions, capped by victory April 2 in the prestigious Musical Arts Conference championships at Trumbull High School.

The NMHS guard performed their 2011 Winterguard show titled "Hallelujah" and was rewarded with first place in the scholastic "A" division.

Ms. Soni was assisted in her direction of the guard by Laura D'Averso and Bekah Sutter.

Contributing their talents to the NMHS guard success have been Calia Borden, Lindsey Brown, Alissa Carrozza, Jen Davis, Melanie Dzamko, Shane Early, Caitlyn Forrester-Johnson, Lizzy French, Jasmine Granja.

Also, J.D. Izaguirre, Ashley Jajer, Chealsee Kalivas, Kristin McLaughlin, Shannon McLaughlin, Carolynn Pahner, Becca Perez, Katie Russo, Emily Sterk, Danniella Tompos, Valerie Vita and Melissa Young.
