Gunnery students pick apples for food bank
A group of 15 senior and sophomore students at Gunnery School in Washington recently went apple picking as part of a community service project.
The students were accompanied by the Martin, Russillo and Geary families.
The students and families joined about 80 young people from all over the state for two hours of apple-picking at Hallock Orchards in Washington.
In recognition of Hunger Action Month, the orchard donated their entire apple harvest to food banks, with the understanding the food banks had to supply the volunteers.
The harvest will be distributed among the 650-member food banks in the state.
