Applications accepted for scholarships
Many scholarship funds are currently accepting applications from students in the Greater New Milford area:
Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce Frederick J. Wynne Scholarship: Deadline: April 30. Open to students who have a parent or guardian who works for a member business of the Chamber or is employed himself/herself by a member business, and who has demonstrated community service and need for financial assistance. Applications are available at local high schools and at the Chamber office, 11 Railroad St. For information, call the Chamber office at 860-354-6080.
Kent Center School Scholarship: Deadline: May 1. Applicants must be graduates of Kent Center School and have attended seventh and eighth grades there. Applications available by visiting www.kentcenter.com and clicking on KCSSF's link. Interviews will be held May 25-27. For information, e-mail Katie Moore at email@example.com.
Alan S. Farnham Memorial Scholarship: Deadline: May 8. Open to graduating high school seniors living in the Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department district. Based on academic standing, community service, two letters of recommendation from non-relatives (including one from a high school teacher) and a handwritten (not typed) essay about the applicant. Applications must be postmarked by May 8 and mailed to the Gaylordsville Historical Society, P.O. Box 25, Gaylordsville, CT 06755.
Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary scholarship: Deadline: May 1. Open to graduating high school seniors living in the Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department district or who are a child, sibling or grandchild of an active GVFD member.
