The After School Arts Program, which serves the Region 12 school district, will conduct a wide variety of programs for area residents through December:

Programs for children aged 3 to 5 will include "Storytelling: Pictures and Words" with Lisa Worth Huber and Alyssa Robb Wednesdays beginning Sept. 8 ($45) and "Singing, Rhythm and Movement" with Tom Hanford Wednesdays beginning Oct. 20 ($45), both to be held in Wersebe Hall at the First Congregational Church on the Green in Washington.

Programs for children in kindergarten through fifth grade will include "Be in a Play" with Emily Hubelbank Mondays through Saturdays beginning Sept. 15 ($90 for Region 12 students, $110 for Region 12 residents and $165 for non-residents) at Washington Primary School; a field trip to the Aldrich Museum Oct. 20 from 1:45 to 5:30 p.m. ($15 for Region 12 residents, $20 for non-residents), leaving from Washington Primary School; and "Animal Party! A Musical" with Eric Everett Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning Oct. 25 ($90 for Region 12 students, $110 for Region 12 residents, $165 for non-residents).

Programs for children in first and second grade will include "Recycled Art" with Kezia Hearn Thursdays beginning Oct. 21 at Washington Primary School ($50 for Region 12 residents, $75 for non-residents).

Programs for children in kindergarten through second grade will include "Sunlight Prints" with Alyssa Robb Sept. 20-22 at Burnham School in Bridgewater ($30 for Region 12 residents, $45 for non-residents).

Programs for children in kindergarten through sixth grade will include hand drumming and percussion with John Marshall Mondays beginning Nov. 22 at Shepaug Valley High School in Washington ($50 for Region 12 residents, $75 for non-residents).

Programs for children in second through fifth grades will include sewing with Lesley Neilson-Bowman Tuesdays beginning Nov. 30 at Washington Primary School ($30 for Region 12 residents, $45 for non-residents).

Programs for children in third through fifth grades will include digital photography with Donna Cloutier Fridays beginning Nov. 19 at Washington Primary School ($40 for Region 12 residents, $60 for non-residents).

Programs for children in third through sixth grade and people aged 7 to adult will include "The Art of Fencing" Wednesdays beginning Sept. 22 at Booth Free School in Roxbury ($80 for Region 12 students, $120 for non-resident students, $120 for Region 12 adults, $144 for non-resident adults).

Programs for children in sixth through eighth grades will include "Nature Writing" with John Alter Mondays beginning Sept. 20 at Steep Rock in Washington ($40 for Region 12 residents, $60 for non-residents); digital photography with Donna Cloutier Thursdays beginning Sept. 23 at Shepaug Valley High School in Washington ($50 for Region 12 residents, $75 for non-residents); "Creating Heroes and Villians" with Jesse Smolover Fridays beginning Oct. 15 at SVHS ($40 for Region 12 residents, $60 for non-residents); "Marionette Making" with Joseph Jude Brien Tuesdays through Fridays beginning Oct. 26 at SVHS ($90 for Region 12 residents, $135 for non-residents); and "Twisted Animation" with John Kane Wednesdays and Fridays beginning Dec. 1 at SVHS ($60 for Region 12 residents, $90 for non-residents).

Programs for students in sixth through twelfth grades will include "The Strings Project" with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra Tuesdays beginning Oct. 16 at Shepaug Valley High School in Washington ($100 for Region 12 students, $140 for Region 12 residents, $210 for non-residents).

Programs for students in seventh grade through adult will include hand drumming and percussion with John Marshall Mondays beginning Oct. 25 at Shepaug Valley High School in Washington ($90 for Region 12 students, $135 for non-resident students, $135 for Region 12 adults, $162 for non-resident adults).

Programs for youths in eighth through twelfth grades will include "The Art of Alchemy" with Chris Tiesler Tuesdays beginning Sept. 21 at SVHS ($40 for Region 12 residents, $60 for non-residents) and "The Art of Siege: Range and Accuracy of the Trebuchet" with Stephan Gerhard Saturdays beginning Oct. 2 at the artist's studio in Bridgewater ($40 for Region 12 residents, $60 for non-residents).

Programs for students in ninth through twelfth grades will include "Preparing Your Portfolio" with Jesse Smolover Thursdays beginning Sept. 23 at Shepaug Valley High School in Washington ($40 for Region 12 residents, $60 for non-residents).

Programs for students in ninth grade through adult will include "Mini Books" with Terri Tibbatts Wednesdays beginning Nov. 17 at Shepaug Valley High School in Washington ($40 for Region 12 students, $60 for non-resident students, $60 for Region 12 resident adult, $72 for non-resident adults).

Programs for people aged 5 to adult will include a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., leaving from Shepaug Valley High School in Washington ($35 for Region 12 residents, $45 for non-residents).
