As time flies by during this holiday season most people think real estate sales get put on the back burner. The fact is there are 1,634 residential properties in Fairfield County that are currently (as of Dec. 17) under deposit or in contract.

That makes for a lot of people planning their next move and all that involves for sellers: managing your possessions which can include donating, selling or packing up; engaging a mover or system to get those things to your new destination; switching utilities, trash, address and service plans.

For buyers: staying on top of contract dates, lender requirements, setting up utilities, service plans, obtaining insurance, changing address and getting as ready as possible to acclimate to your new location.

So while this is a busy time of year, the real estate market is always on the go. If you are in the process of making a move, Realtors and all the people involved in your transaction are here to help the transition go smoothly, call on them with thoughts or questions, it’s what we do all day, every day, all year long.

And if you’re contemplating a move in the coming months or coming years, now is a great time to get organized whether preparing your home or getting your buying power ducks in a row. Enlist the know-how of a real estate professional, a big part of what we do is help sellers and buyers prepare for the details of the process as well as imparting our knowledge of the local markets in which we work.

It is wonderful time of year to not only count your blessings, but count how many boxes the mover can fit on his truck. Happy Holidays!
