Garbage truck rolls over in Fairfield.

Media: Connecticut Post

FAIRFIELD — It could have been much worse.

It happened at 4:37 p.m. Thursday when a 2016 Isuzu dump truck speeds north on Greenfield Street with a full load of garbage.

As it nears the Creative Minds Early Childhood Center, the full load begins to slide.

The driver loses control of the truck, crosses the double yellow lines and veers to the right toward the childhood center.

Instead of striking the building it makes contact with a large set of rocks a good distance from the center.

No one — the truck driver or the few children and employees in the childhood center — were hurt.

Soon after, the Fairfield Police Dispatch Center began receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a garbage truck had just rolled over on Greenfield Street near Kohl’s Department Store.

Police arrest the driver — Anthony Bustillo, 19, of Lincoln Avenue in Bridgeport. He was charged with reckless driving and reckless endangerment and was released after posting a $400 cash bond.

News 12 Connecticut reported that Bustillo told police he smoked pot before the crash and was rushing to his girlfriend’s home.

The company that owns the truck, Bull Enterprises LLC, responded and picked up the trash.

Bustillo is expected in Bridgeport Superior Court on March 12..
