Police warn of child abduction attempts
Police in Naugatuck and Windsor Locks are urging caution after two separate incidents Thursday that involved possible abduction attempts.
A 15-year-old reported to Naugatuck police that a man asked her to go for “a ride with him over the bridge” at about 2:30 p.m. while she was in the driveway of her home on North Church Street, police said.
She ran into the house and told a family member who called, police. The man may have had a small child in the passenger seat of the car, she said. The girl described the man as a “Latin” male with short black hair, probably in his mid-30s, police said.
The car he was driving was a black, newer four-door, she said.
Windsor Locks police are investigating a separate incident that occurred Thursday morning in their town, according to NBC Connecticut
In that case, a man tried to get a girl into his contractor van Thursday morning as she was walking on Center Street, NBC Connecticut said.The girl ran away and reported the incident, NBC Connecticut said.
