Police investigate mailbox vandalism in Sherman
SHERMAN — Police are looking for the person, or persons, responsible for vandalizing several mailboxes in town.
The vandalism occurred during the overnight hours of Thursday into Friday, according to authorities, who did not provide further information on the incidents.
Mailboxes are considered federal property and it’s a federal crime to vandalize them, according to the United States Postal Inspection Service.
Violators face up to $250,000 in fines or imprisonment for up to three years for each act of vandalism.
