NEWTOWN — Police are looking for the driver of an SUV involved in a hit-and-run Friday at the intersection of Main Street and Church Hill Road.

The collision occurred around 4:15 p.m., when two vehicles entered the intersection at the same time.

A 2009 Nissan Altima driven by a 62-year-old Stratford man was southbound, and the other vehicle — described as a silver SUV — was westbound attempting to turn onto Main Street, police said.

The passenger’s side front corner of the westbound vehicle struck the front of the Nissan Altima, causing moderate damage and taking off the Altima’s bumper.

The driver of the Nissan Altima pulled over and watched as the other vehicle continued southbound on Main Street without stopping, police said. The driver was uninjured.

The evading vehicle sustained damage to its right front area, according to police.

Anyone with information regarding the evading vehicle is asked to contact Newtown police.
