SOUTHBURY — A local man is facing assault charges after allegedly attacking a grocery delivery driver last week.

Police were called to Bullet Hill Road around 5 p.m. Friday for a reported assault. At the scene, a 52-year-old man said he was an InstaCart driver and had just been assaulted by a man.

Officers identified the alleged perpetrator as 65-year-old Thomas Macdougall, placed him under arrest and charged him with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

A motive behind the alleged attacked has not yet been established, state police said Tuesday.

Macdougall was released after posting a $1,000 non-surety bond and is due in state Superior Court in Waterbury on Dec. 15.
