DANBURY — A George Street man is facing nine felony charges for allegedly sexually assaulting two underage girls 11 years ago.

Jose Antonio Leon-Lojano, 52, was arrested Aug. 3 following a police investigation into a sexual assault complaint reported to the Department of Children and Families by a local pediatrician.

The doctor contacted DCF after the mother of two patients told her the girls claimed to have been sexually assaulted in 2009, when they were 6 and 4 years old.

The girls told their mother that Leon-Lojano performed sexual acts and touched them inappropriately at a home in Danbury, according the warrant for Leon-Lojano’s arrest.

One of the girls said Leon-Lojano also sexually assaulted her during a trip to Westport’s Sherwood Island in July 2009.

According to police, the girl did not tell anyone at the time because she was scared and decided recently to tell her mother because she had been having nightmares of Leon-Lojano.

When she started having bad dreams about Leon-Lojano, the girl told police she decided to talk to her younger sister, who was also allegedly assaulted by him — but her sister said “she did not want to talk about it and wanted to forget what happened,” according to the affidavit.

Police said they spoke to the younger sister, who provided a similar account about the sexual assault allegedly committed by Leon-Lojano in Danbury.

“Jane Doe 2 stated she never told anyone what Leon-Lojano had done to them,” and had “tried to block out these memories from her mind,” according to police.

Not only was she “ashamed for what happened,” according to police, but “thought no one would believe her because she failed to report anything sooner.”

A warrant was obtained for Leon-Lojano’s arrest July 28, and he was taken into custody six days later.

He is charged with three counts of first-degree sexual assault, three counts of illegal sexual contact and three counts of impairing the morals of a child.

Leon-Lojano is being held on $500,000 bond at the Bridgeport Correctional Center, and his next court date at state Superior Court in Danbury is scheduled for Sept. 28.
