BETHEL — Police are investigating an early Wednesday morning crash that sent a driver to the hospital and damaged a home.

Emergency personnel were called to a report of a rollover crash on Benedict Road around 1:20 a.m. and found a driver trapped inside a wrecked Mazda3 that had hit a house.

The car struck the garage area of a 1,551-square-foot house that had just been sold in May, according to land records.

“First arriving Bethel police officers were able to free the single occupant from the vehicle and begin medical treatment,” according to the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

The 23-year-old driver had an “abrasion/swelling to his forehead” and “some altered mental status,” a medic at the scene reported.

The driver was transported to Danbury Hospital with unknown injuries.
