Thanks for seven years of 'competition, celebration, and love'
To the Editor:
We would like to say thank you to all who participated in this year's seventh annual Swanson/Horrigan benefit softball turnament.
We would like to thank our volunteers, participants and fans for seven years of competition, celebration and love.
This year, when times are difficult, many of you didn't have any extra to give, and yet you dug deeper than ever -- we are eternally grateful for your generosity.
To the volunteers, we acknowledge that skill is an important part of the game, which makes you guys every bit the tournament champions.
To the teams, we thank you for your spirit and energy and willingness to trade off just a bit of traditional softball competitiveness for the light-hearted fun that defines our tournament.
To the fans who come out to share in the moments and memories, we say three cheers to you for your kindness.
There is a magical beauty in the broken moments that bring us together, that beauty echoes with every swing of the a bat or cheer from the crowd.
This year, that echo reached farther and touched more hearts, none more then our team. Whether friend or stranger, we thank you, all of you have managed to transform the lives of our boys into an immortal celebration of their time with us, and that's a great thing.
Our lives will never be as good with the absence of our boys, but at the end of our tournament we are left with our hearts full of love for our boys and the strength of that emotion will remain engraved on our souls.
We look forward to seeing you all next year at this special event. Have a safe and healthy year.
Al and Lynda Swanson
