To the Editor:
Thanks to the Marvelwood School, the Kent Memorial Librarys fifth annual garden party was saved from a rainout.
The fundraiser for the library was moved into the library at Marvelwood when the skies opened in full force prior to the June event. And so our garden party turned into a library fete.
And what could be more fitting than a library party for a library in a library?
All 200 people in attendance agreed the setting was perfect, cozy and friendly. Supporters bid on interesting and fun silent auction items while munching on delicious hearty hors doeuvres and listening to the dulcet tones of George Potts and the Joint Chiefs.
To the administration and staff of the Marvelwood School, words of thanks do not begin to express our sincere gratitude for your generosity in hosting us.
To the volunteers who graciously donated their valuable time, a very rare commodity these days, we thank you more than we can say.
To the caring individuals and businesses who donated items and services to our party and to our silent auction, we thank you deeply.
To our library director and staff, we owe our gratitude for all of their time and effort spent in helping us with this endeavor.
And finally to our patrons who supported us by attending the event on a day when they might have rather cuddled up inside at home, and by supporting us financially, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
This annual event is an important fundraiser in helping to contribute to the operating budget of the library, which we all cherish so much.
We truly appreciate the generosity of all who are connected with us.
