To the Editor:

A warm and sincere `thank you' to the United Way for organizing its 2010 "Day of Caring."

On June 9, a small but eager group of volunteers arrived at the Kent Children's Center ready and able to do their volunteer magic.

The Connecticut Light & Power Company generously sent volunteers Vicki Rumble, Mark Zimmerman, Sue Wasilus, Bob Roncardi, Charlie Chapin and Jim Kalamajka.

Together, this group of caring individuals braved the incoming rain to paint our play equipment and to rake and groom our playground.

Thank you for sending us this wonderful crew.

Our children enjoyed your company and banter at lunchtime, and I know you all enjoyed their songs and gifts.

Also, a big thank you to Stacy Schulman for putting all of the pieces together -- as always, you did a great job.

Thank you all, for your community spirit and support of a small United Way member agency, the Kent Children's Center.

From our children, our teachers and myself, thank you for all that was done and thank you for caring.

Toni Hanny,

Executive Director
