To the Editor:

Halloween 2010 was a great family day in Kent.

Congratulations to the 175-plus youngsters who participated in Kent Park and Recreation's annual Kids Fun Run, held in conjunction with the Kent Pumpkin Run.

This was the most youngsters ever to participate.

Park and Rec would like to thank the Pumpkin Run organization committee for its willingness to work with us to promote the Fun Run, for processing and sharing the online registration, and for providing race bibs for the children.

I would like to extend my personal thanks to John Casey, Dave Dunleavy, Lynn Harrington, Wallie Jahn, John Lindsay and Rick Osborne for their assistance with the Fun Run.

Halloween evening, 750 community members and visitors to town participated in the annual Halloween Safety Campaign by wearing glow-in the-dark necklaces while trick or treating.

I enjoyed the opportunity to greet hundreds of youngsters and their families.

Thank you to the Kent Lions Club for again co-sponsoring this safety campaign.

The Kent Park and Recreation Commission and I appreciate the support of our Oct. 31 events and thank the families who shared the day with us.
