Baby sitter pleads not guilty to leaving boy, 6, in hot car
ALHAMBRA, Calif. (AP) — A baby sitter accused of leaving a boy in a hot car has pleaded not guilty in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The District Attorney's Office says 60-year-old Helen Law entered the plea Friday to one felony count of child abuse.
Prosecutors say Law was baby-sitting a 6-year-old boy on June 12 when she left him in the locked car for more than an hour while she had lunch at a restaurant in suburban Alhambra.
A passer-by saw the boy crying in the car and called police, who removed the boy and found Law.
If convicted as charged, Law faces up to six years in state prison.
