Carly Dudzik (Darien) scored the first goal of the game as the Amherst field hockey team defeated defending national champion Bowdoin, 2-0. Sarah McCarrick (New Canaan\/Greenwich Academy) had an assist on Dudzik's goal while Molly Malloy (Westhill\/Taft) had a shot on goal for the winners. Katrina Tulla (New Canaan) had four saves for a shutout as the Williams field hockey team defeated Wesleyan, 3-0. Lindsay Davies, Ariel Lyddane and Casey Greene, all of Greenwich Academy, also played for the winners while Allie Lynch (Greenwich Academy) had eight shots, two on goal, and Averill Roberto (Darien) also played for the losers. Freshman Carly Shields (Wilton) has appeared in three games with the Ohio Wesleyan field hockey team (3-3). Alexandra Parese (Wilton) had her first goal of the season as Endicott (3-2) defeated Western New England in a field hockey contest. Hamilton's Meredith FitzPatrick (Greenwich Academy) was fourth and Tory Grieves (New Canaan) finished fifth in the Hamilton Invitational women's division while Kelly Holmes (Ridgefield) of Vassar was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week after she finished 11th. Lindsay Luke (New Canaan) of the host team finished 10th with a 109 in the Bowdoin Blast women's golf tourney. Michelle Miyaki (Trumbull) saw time with the Manhattan women's soccer team (3-3) in a win over Cornell. Xandra Hompe (New Canaan\/Greenwich Academy) played with the losers. Freshman Tim Quigley (Ridgefield) recorded a goal as the Quinnipiac men's soccer team (2-0-2) defeated NJIT. Marijan Jurak (Greenwich) has appeared in two games for Quinnipiac. A trio of former Stamford High players were in action as UMass routed Albany, 44-7. Vlad Ducasse, a 6-foot-5, 330-pound senior, started at left tackle while Brian Ostaszewski, 6-5, 300-pound sophomore, was the right tackle for 17th-ranked UMass. Cornerback Ross Bertrand had one solo tackle for Albany. Mike Byrnes (Brunswick) had one solo tackle and Mike Gasparino (Darien) had one assisted tackle for the Dickinson football team (2-0) in a victory over Hobart.
