Eight times this autumn the New Milford High girls' soccer team whitewashed an opponent.

Those strong defensive performances by goalkeeper Jane Thompson and her tenacious defensive teammates accounted for the six wins and two ties earned by coach Greg Marsan's 6-8-2 side.

Unfortunately, the Green Wave struggled all season to find the net at the other end of the field, absorbing eight shutouts. Six of those led to defeat.

Only twice did the NMHS distaff crew drop decisions when they did score.

Just in the past week, the girls outplayed Newtown, 1-0, and Weston, 1-0, but finished the regular season with Tuesday's 3-0 home loss to Joel Barlow.
