Yvon Michaud Sr., 62, of New Milford died unexpectedly at home June 15, 2009, after a short battle with cancer. He was the husband of Virginia (Kalakay) Michaud.

Mr. Michaud was born June 3, 1947, in Moonbeam, Ontario, Canada, a son of Gerard and Therese (Chartroud) Michaud.

He was employed for 32 years by the former Miller Construction Co. of Bethel and for 10 years as custodian by the New Milford Board of Education.


Mr. Michaud was an avid NASCAR fan.

In addition to his wife of 13 years, Mr. Michaud is survived by two sons, Yvon Michaud Jr. of Gaylordsville and Doug Michaud of Vermont; a brother, Maurice Michaud of New York; three grandchildren in Gaylordsville and two in Vermont; and loving family members, friends and co-workers. He was predeceased by a brother,
Bernard Michaud
, and a son, Michael Michaud.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church , Route 109 in New Milford. Family will receive friends in the church hall immediately following the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
