Shayne Newman, president and Chief Executive Officer of YardApes in New Milford, has announced his company is again participating in GreenCare for Troops in the Greater New Milford area.
GreenCare is coordinated by Project EverGreen, a nationwide outreach program that connects local area lawn and landscape firms with families of the men and women serving in the armed forces.
The purpose of the program is to ease the stress of weekly lawn and landscaping maintenance by finding companies to help local families with yard tasks.
"Lawn and landscape maintenance becomes a definite hardship when a family's primary source of income is on active duty and away from home," Mr. Newman said.
"By maintaining a healthy lawn and property, we hope to contribute to families' overall well being during a very stressful time in their lives," he said. "It's a sincere gesture of support."
The number of families eligible to receive assistance is limited.
Military families interested in applying for supportive lawn care services may contact GreenCare for Troops directly toll free at 877-758-4835 or apply on line to Project EverGreen at www.projectevergreen.com.
