New Milford Hospital will offer a StrongWomen, Strong Bones Program, a nationally recognized fitness program for middle-aged and older women, in the coming months.

Four sessions will meet twice a week for seven weeks at sites in the Greater New Milford area.

The program is appropriate for most women; however, all participants 70 years of age and older must consult with their physician before beginning this exercise program.

Physician referral forms will be provided when registering for the program.

Exercises will focus on strength training to provide many potential benefits, including arthritis relief, restoration of balance and reduction of falls, strengthening of bones, proper weight maintenance and improved glucose control.

Classes will meet: Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 to 3:15 p.m. at the Washington Senior Center, Bryan Memorial Plaza in Washington; Mondays and Fridays from 10 to 11:15 a.m. March 5 through April 20 at the First Congregational Church at 36 Main St. in New Milford; and Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 to 11:15 a.m. March 7 through April 21 at The Kent Specialty Care Center in Kent.

The cost is $85 for each seven-week session.
