NMHS Class of '63 celebrates during 50th reunion
It's been half a century since New Milford High School's Class of 1963 experienced its graduation.
Classmates gathered July 13-14 to celebrate their 50th reunion.
Nearly 40 classmates, some of whom brought spouses or partners, attended a reception and dinner July 13 at The Litchfield Inn.
The reunion was spearheaded by Sandra (Bray) Murphy of Cincinnati, Ohio and Richard Carlson of West Simsbury, along with support from several classmates near and far.
The class had 90 members in 1963. Twelve classmates were memorialized during the reunion.
The following day, some of the class members gathered at the home of Susan (Pilero) Mullins in Gaylordsville for a picnic.
The Class of 1963 attended the building now known as the Catherine Lillis Administration Building on East Street for their freshmen through junior years.
They then had the honor of being the first senior class to graduate in June 1963 from the brand-new New Milford High School, an edifice now serving the town as Sarah Noble Intermediate School along Sunny Valley Road.
