Ward Stumpf Sr., 79, was a war veteran
Mr. Stumpf was born April 13, 1931, in Big Run, Pa., son of the late Ward C. and Mary (Lomgnaker) Stumpf.
He attended Big Run schools and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Stumpf was employed as a machine operator for Bel Air Aircraft in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Berlin Plating Company in Punxsutawney, Pa., and treatment facility manager at Kimberly-Clark in New Milford. He retired after 25 years of service at the age of 55.
Mr. Stumpf was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved being with people.
Mr. Stumpf is survived by three daughters, Cassy Rawnsley, and her husband, Rob, of Sacramento, Calif., Anna Carlson, and her husband, Brad, of Sherman, and Valerie Lorimer, of New Milford; a son, Earl E. Stumpf, and his wife, Susan, of Bridgewater; two brothers, John Stumpf, of Big Run, and William Paul Stumpf, of New Milford; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Ward C. Stumpf Jr.; and six siblings.
A memorial service will be held July 30 at 1 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford. The family will receive friends at noon at the funeral home.
A reception will be held at the VFW hall on Avery Road immediately following the service.
Burial will take place Aug. 1 in the Fair View Cemetery in Big Run.
