He was born in Bridgeport and was a long time resident of the Danbury area until he moved to Pensacola, Fla. 12 years ago.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cecelia (McNamara) Hager of Pensacola; a daughter, Joan and her husband Frank Fitz-simmons of Pensacola; two brothers, Edward and his wife Barbara Hager of Bridgewater and Wilbert and his wife Jackie of Washington state; a sister, Eleanor and her husband Edwin Baldwick of Bridgewater; three grandchildren, Paul and his wife Nicola Fitzsimmons of Pensacola, Bryan and his wife Courtney Fitzsimmons of Lakeland, Fla. and Kerry and her husband Dory Hornsby of Alpharetta, Ga.; and two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Ava Fitz-simmons.

The family would like to recognize Sacred Heart Hospital and Covenant Hospice of West Florida Hospital for their wonderful care.

Memorials may be made to the Covenant Hospice and/or Sacred Heart Hospital.
