Walmart pharmacist earns scholarship
Christine Liberto is one of 10 individuals nationwide who will receive full-tuition scholarships to fulfill their educational and professional dreams by undertaking a bachelor's or MBA program with University of Phoenix.
Liberto has been a pharmacist at Walmart since she graduated from college. She became interested in retail pharmacy at the age of 16 when she became a pharmacy technician.
Someday, she hopes to open a pharmacy to offer individualized patient care, including a diabetes care and management program that would help teach customers how to manage their disease.
"Providing exceptional patient care drives me to be motivated every single day," Liberto said.
Liberto says that an MBA with a concentration in project management will help her to further develop the skills needed to run her own retail business one day.
The Dream BIG scholarship program was launched in January 2013 and was open to any individual working part time or full time for a retail company.
The full-tuition scholarships will allow retail associates to pursue career paths available in the retail industry, with the added flexibility to continue to work and live at home while advancing their education.
