Vivian Jean (Peet) Chatfield, 78, of Washington Depot, died Feb. 15, 2010, at Bristol Hospital in Bristol.

Mrs. Chatfield was born April 7,1931, at home in New Milford, the daughter of the late Esther Underhill Peet Samaha of Danbury and the late Hiram Peet of New Milford.

She was the eldest of five children: the late Robert Peet, Marilyn Pomeroy, Martha Palanzo and William Peet.

Mrs. Chatfield lived in Washington Depot for over 50 years.

She was a certified nursing assistant (CNA) for 15 years with the Washington/Warren VNA.

Mrs. Chatfield is survived by nine children and their partners, Lynsley Chatfield, and Shirley, of Dover Plains, N.Y., David Chatfield, of Litchfield, Dwayne and Laurie, of New Milford, June Chatfield Fitzpatrick, and Felix, of Whidbey Island, Wash., Lawrence, and Lisa, of Fresno, Calif., Thurber Chatfield, of Katonah, N.Y., Dawn McSherry, and Richard, of Burlington, Vivian Cerruto, and James, of Torrington, and Hope Chatfield, and Chris, of Seattle, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by her former husband, Thurber R. Chatfield, in 1991.

Calling hours will be held tomorrow (Saturday) from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford.

Burial will be private at a later date.
