To the Editor:
On behalf of the staff of Village Center for the Arts and its board of directors, we would like to thank the 200-plus people who attended the 17th annual Summer Art Show and Gallery Sept. 23.
The art show is the culmination of summer camp at VCA and enables each camper to display their work to family, friends and the community.
We hope that many of you left feeling good about supporting young local artists and the mission of VCA, which is to provide a nurturing environment for artistic creativity through educational fine art programs and events for all ages.
We would also like to recognize and thank event sponsors Danbury Box, Merritt Construction, Robert Cooper and Barrie Goldstein. Thanks also to Rob Ryder and The Cookhouse for providing the delicious food for the event.
Silent auction contributors included All Aboard Pizza, Aspetuck Animal Hospital, BevMax, The Book Nook, The Club at River Oaks, DoTerra Essential Oils, Joe’s Salon, Litchfield Distillery, Natural Marketplace, Nutmeg Olive Oil, Safari Collective, Swank on Bank, The Sweet Spot, Theo’s Restaurant, and Twin Star Apothecary.
Thanks also to our host, Tony Vengrove, and the beautiful space at Makery Co-Working at 20 Bank St. in New Milford.
Many thanks to our volunteer coordinators and servers, Jenna Mancini and Lauren Jelenffy, and all student volunteers: Emma Greene, Jade McGuire, Paris Samuel, Timothy Larmore, Leah Grill, Kitty Franzine, Inga and Amber Purdy, Brianna Cocoran and Lucy Burns, who helped curate and prepare the show.
Thanks to Daniel and the Despirito family, Mark, Jen, Juliette, Lily and Zachary, for kitchen and flower prep and presentation.
Thank you to staff member Dianne Collentine, who, as is her way, went above and beyond expectations in the preparations for the show.
Thank you, lastly, to our staff and board members who assisted in making this show come to fruition.
And congratulations to all of our young artists from all over the country!
VCA’s next community event will be its annual IPA beer tasting and dinner Jan. 27.
