The Jewish Community Center in Sherman will hold an international festival, “A Trip Around the World,” Oct. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The event will include a dance performance featuring Chinese dancer Lisa Fan and international food samplings from local restaurants.

Food will be served from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by Fan’s performance from 2 to 3 p.m.

Fan is a member of Dream Performing Arts, a non-profit specializing in Asian performances and a division of Kang Hua Singers of Greater Hartford.

The group’s dancing styles include Mongolian dance, long sleeve Tibetan dance, Chinese Dragon dance, Fan dance, Umbrella dance, Dai dance and more.

Food will be donated by many local restaurants that include Thompson’s Restaurant (American), Mezza Nazareth (Middle Eastern), Pulcinella (Italian), The Villager Restaurant (Mexican), Amba Palace (Indian), Kibberia (Middle Eastern), So Delicious Homemade Bakery (Jewish- challah), Royal Buffet (Chinese). Other samplings will include Greek, German, Thai, and Jewish favorites.

Tickets are $20 for members, $25 for non-members and $5 for children under 12 and can be purchased by registering online by Oct. 4.

Tickets can be purchased at the door, but prior registration is highly recommended.
