The Community Culinary School of Northwestern Connecticut in New Milford, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. will present a culinary showcase, “Recipe for Success,” March 11 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Festivities will be held at 19 Main, an event venue at 19 Main St. in New Milford.
The culinary celebration is the largest fundraiser for the nonprofit school, which provides job and life skills training to unemployed and underemployed adults from the greater New Milford area.
All food prepared in classes is donated to local food banks to feed the hungry within the community.
The event will feature hors d’oeuvres prepared by students and graduates under the direction of Chef Instructor and program graduate Justin Elander; an open bar of beer and wine; and speeches from program graduates and silent and live auctions.
Items up for auction will include luxury goods as well as excursions like an African safari, a round of 18-hole golf for four at the premier Washington Club, and dinner for four prepared by culinary school students under the direction of Chef Elander.
The “Restaurants for a Year” auction package featuring $100 gift certificates to area restaurants will also be included.
Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for a wine basket drawing featuring over 20 bottles.
To date, 32 sessions of students have graduated from the school.
The school has a 96 percent job placement rate for graduates and a 95 percent six-month post-graduation employment retention rate.
