TheatreWorks New Milford will premiere the musical comedy [title of show] with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and book by Hunter Bell July 15 at 8 p.m.

Following opening night, the show will be staged Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. through July 31, as well as July 24 and 31 at 2 p.m.

The production centers on two struggling writers who decide to enter a new musical theatre festival. The problem is, they have no ideas and the submission deadline is just three weeks away. After enlisting three friends to help them, the big idea finally comes to light: they’ll they decide to write a musical about the unnerving, hectic, and joyous process of writing a musical.

The play received a Tony Award nomination for Best Book of a Musical in 2009.

The cast includes Ashley McLeod, of Brookfield, Rob Bassett, of Danbury, Mike L’Altrella, of Oxford and Carey Van Hollen, of Southbury.

The show is under the direction of Alicia Dempster, of Danbury, and the musical direction of Steven Oliveri, of New York City.

Tickets are $26 for reserved seating. Students and military personnel will be admitted for $21. A free dress rehearsal for seniors will be held July 14 at 8 p.m. A pay-what-you-can-night will be held July 28 at 8 p.m. The theater is located at 5 Brookside Ave. Parking is behind the Catherine E.
