TheatreWorks New Milford's is offering new opportunities for local youths to learn key performance techniques with a new course for kids.

Stage Acting for Youths will begin April 6.

Instructor Robin Frome, who has a master of arts degree in dramatic literature and a bachelor of fine arts degree in Acting, will be the instructor for the three-week course to be held Saturdays and Tuesdays.

The course will include the basics of auditioning, improvisation, solo performance, stage dialects and Shakespeare with opportunity for individualized attention.

The fee is $125 for six classes.

Storybook Theatre, open to children ages 4 to 7, will be held April 20 from 9 to 11 a.m.

Veteran instructor Jill Pace will lead the workshop, which will teachstudents basic theatre terms and make a simple craft to take home and put on their own story book play.

The fee is $35.

Larry Engler of Poko Puppets will offer "Making A Pipper & Bringing it To Life" workshop May 18.

He will demonstrate how to make a simple puppet using ordinary items such as paper plates, plastic bags, and other materials at home.

The fee is $75.

A workshop for youths ages 12 to 18 will be offered June 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with Broadway professionals Ben Simpson, Stephanie Klemons, Dan Micciche and Tony Award nominee Robin DeJesus

The workshop will focus on style, technique and performance quality.

Two summer programs will be offered.

Amy Emke will work with grade-school students on "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" and professional choreographer Robert Bianca will work with teens on "Man of La Mancha."
