The Green Fair -- a half century and going strong

The Green Fair in Washington celebrated its 50th anniversary July 13 with an expansive event in and around the host First Congregational Church on the Green.

The fair offered something for everyone including a a giant tag sale and the auction of a 1995 Corvette and 1973 Mercedes Benz.

Among the other features were a Yankee bakery, a ladies accessories booth, a plant pavilion, a Jumpy House, horse wagon rides, a used book emporium, a live auction and a kids' park with a sports shop, with high-quality sports equipment donated by students at area private schools.

Breakfast and lunch was served throughout the fair's four-hour run.

Proceeds from the fair will be used for the maintenance of the historic Washington Green and meetinghouse.
