To the Editor:

The nonprofit organization Harrybrooke Park & Harden House Museum in New Milford would like to thank all of those who took the time and reached into their pockets to make a donation during Give Local 2017.

Give Local is a 36-hour online fundraiser put together by the CT Community Foundation that receives additional dollars for each contribution made during the campaign.

It’s a heartwarming 36 hours, to say the very least. Gifts of all amounts from $10 up were made this year and we collected over $14,000.

We do not yet know the matching percentage from CCF, but it’s the icing on the cake.

The outpouring of support came from 69 unique donations. We receive the names of most donors and they can all expect personal thank-yous

While these donors are all truly angels to the park, we must specifically thank an anonymous benefactor. I’m not sure they even know the difference that their very large donation makes to us here.

When I say it brings tears, I’m not kidding. Even as we discuss it post-event, I well up and get choked up.

We run on a shoestring budget and this one angel donor, to the park specifically, is a true godsend. We are honored. We are blessed. We are humbled.

And for someone to maintain anonymity for such a large gift truly defines their character and intent. It’s about their experience here in the park, and we will strive to surpass expectations in 2017.
