Teleconference to focus on veterans
New Milford Visiting Nurse Hospice Program will play host to two showings of the 20th annual Hospice Foundation of America spring teleconference April 24 and 27.
This year's topic is "Improving Care for Veterans Facing Illness and Death" and will focus on the aging veteran population, primarily those who served in Vietnam, Korea and World War II.
The conference is open to veterans and those interested in veterans' issues, health-care workers, clergy, social workers, volunteers and interested members of the general public.
Topics to be discussed include military culture, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, stoicism, forgiveness, pain management and grief in the context of serious and life-limited illness.
The program will include interviews with veterans, clinicians and researchers knowledgeable about the veteran population.
The teleconference will be shown April 24 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and April 27 from 9 a.m. to noon at the New Milford VNA, 68 Park Lane (Route 202).
CEUs are available, but those wishing to obtain CEUs must attend the April 24 broadcast to be present for a panel discussion.
